Day Skipper and VHF theory

The ICC (International Certificate of Competence)

The International Certificate of Competence (ICC), formally the International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft under UNECE Resolution 40, is evidence of competence recognised in many European countries. Charter companies and harbour officials often ask for it.

Where it comes from

Countries that accept UNECE Resolution 40 recognise the ICC. In the UK the RYA issues it.

How UK sailors usually get one

The ICC can be for power, sail or both, and for coastal or inland waters. To sail on inland waterways you also need to pass a short test on the CEVNI rules.

Do I need one?

It depends on the country and the charter company. See do you need Day Skipper to charter. Always check the current rules with the charter company before you book.

Practise it in Skipper.

Skipper is independent prep for the Day Skipper theory and the VHF exam. It does not issue the ICC or any certificate. Coming soon to iPhone and Android.
